Kim Cohen has a natural eye for the art of hair. Kim trained at the Graham Webb International Academy of Hair in Washington DC followed by advanced training at the Redken Exhange in New York City. Soon after her time in New York, Kim caught the Hollywood bug and moved to Los Angeles to attend the Cinema Makeup School. She worked as a freelance hair and makeup artist for a year during which she further honed her skills on a diverse portfolio of clientele. However, she wanted to come back to a more personal atmosphere for hair design and landed a full time job working as a hair stylist and colorist in Burbank, CA. Here she tapped into her passion for cutting and colors and mastered her talent in color correction and remapping, becoming an expert at fixing the mistakes of other hair stylists. Kim is incredibly adept at creating many different looks from edgy to classic, but her eye is most keen on finding the perfect custom look for each individual client. And now after 17 years in the beauty industry, Kim decided to purchase Rock Paper Salon in 2014 where she brings her unique sense of style to everyone, everyday.
Ashleigh, a native of Southern California, received her cosmetology license in 2003. After several years in the industry her focus then shifted to salon administration, earning her the position of Assistant to the Director of Carlton Academy. During this period she also earned a certificate in Business Emersion from the Bumble & Bumble Academy NYC. From there she developed her administrative skills in a popular high volume Los Angeles salon after which accepting her current position as our Salon Manager. With her cultivated style and industry know-how Ashleigh brings an ardent mix of ability and professionalism that Rock Paper Salon clients have come to expect.
Jenn Ehrke is an Aveda trained stylist who specializes in precision cutting, custom coloring and editorial work. She is a highly advanced trained stylist and has been in the industry over 6 years. She has trained with some of the industries top professionals from Aveda and is certified in numerous cutting edge techniques in both hair cutting and color. Her passion for artistry and creativity allows her to express her individuality into her work. It’s about showing you something you haven’t seen or heard of before and giving you something you always thought was impossible to achieve.
Vanessa knew she wanted to be a colorist at a young age practicing on herself and friends. After finishing her training at The Toni and Guy Academy, she continued to train at Sally Hershburger Los Angeles under some of the best colorists in LA. Vanessa is currently teaching at Paul Mitchell The School and specializes in fashion colors, blondes, and balayage. Her ever changing style and unique eye you will be happy you sat in Vanessa’s chair.
Pablo is a well-rounded stylist who enjoys precision cuts for both men and women. He is an amazing colorist who is always practicing new techniques such as balayage and ombré. He is extremely patient and very approachable. With over nine years in the industry, he excels at making sure consultations are thorough and fully understood by both him and the client. Pablo is always ahead of the curve and believes education and innovation are the key to staying current. He has a wide variety of clientele that allows him to not only have practice in different textures and styles of hair, but also a greater understanding and openness to all kinds of backgrounds. Dawn is a color and haircut specialist with over 20 years of experience. She has advanced her hair cutting training through Vidal Sassoon and Bumble and Bumble. She is a dry cutting expert and highly skilled in barbering techniques. Dawn is a also a formative hair color expert having trained with Wella International. Whether you are looking for that very subtle natural look, or want the hottest in avant garde trends, she has the experience and vision to bring out the best color and style for you..
Alyssa graduated from Toni and Guy in 2012 an has spent the time since thriving as a hairstylist with a creative edge. She has a passion for high fashion trends and creates a nurturing and trusting relationship with her clients while empowering them to explore their own creative choices. Alyssa’s passion for both natural color and imaginative color, paired with her ability to truly listen to her clients, gives each person she works with a unique experience and a hairstyle they can rock confidently.
Brenda studied at Toni and Guy in Santa Monica, California. She has always stayed local, earning her experience in East L.A. and Echo Park. Brenda has taken online courses for Pravana and has extensive knowledge with the Redken brand. Since the age of 13, Brenda has been experimenting with her own hair, adding all kinds of colors and hair styles, even without the approval of her parents, leading to her desire for a career with hair. She enjoys the challenges her clients bring her, from experimenting with a range of natural tones to edgy funky colors. Her specialty is working with thick hair along with her signature beach waves. One of Brenda’s goals is to travel, share her education as a stylist but also learn the trades of life from all kinds of people.
Morgan comes from a theatrical background, specializing in styling wigs and hair for time period pieces. With licenses in both Washington and California, she has been trained in reputable salons from Seattle to Beverley Hills. After working years in a barbershop she has mastered men's haircuts along with modern, spunky hair coloring. She displays her passion for people, art, and expression by making hair her canvas.
An LA native who has worked in the area for a decade — Trained by Vidal Sassoon cut experts as well as Wella and Aveda creative colorists — has expanded different principles to match clients needs. Being an artist and studying animation on off days makes her understanding on shapes and colors a step above the rest. Every person has a different face shape and different hair texture. She is known for her great understanding of pixie and precision graduation cuts and men’s short cuts. Marissa believes highly on incorporating your style to your lifestyle. Weather your a natural blonde or a pop color client she will be able to guide you and teach you how to maintain your mane. Did I mention she also does waxing and threading?
Sarah trained at Toni & Guy Hairdressing Academy in Santa Monica, CA, where she studied precision cutting, coloring, and styling. Since 2014 she worked as a stylist at Rust Salon in West Hollywood, as well as a freelance make-up artist/hairstylist. While growing up in an artistic ‘Italo-American’ family and going back and forth between the U.S. and Italy, she developed a love for fashion, artistic expression and rock and roll. She expresses her creative vision in her work whether its dimensional funky colors to clean fades or textured bobs.
