Kim Cohen has a natural eye for the art of hair. Kim trained at the Graham Webb International Academy of Hair in Washington DC followed by advanced training at the Redken Exhange in New York City. Soon after her time in New York, Kim caught the Hollywood bug and moved to Los Angeles to attend the Cinema Makeup School. She worked as a freelance hair and makeup artist for a year during which she further honed her skills on a diverse portfolio of clientele. However, she wanted to come back to a more personal atmosphere for hair design and landed a full time job working as a hair stylist and colorist in Burbank, CA. Here she tapped into her passion for cutting and colors and mastered her talent in color correction and remapping, becoming an expert at fixing the mistakes of other hair stylists. Kim is incredibly adept at creating many different looks from edgy to classic, but her eye is most keen on finding the perfect custom look for each individual client. And now after 17 years in the beauty industry, Kim decided to purchase Rock Paper Salon in 2014 where she brings her unique sense of style to everyone, everyday.
Jenn Ehrke is an Aveda trained stylist who specializes in precision cutting, custom coloring and editorial work. She is a highly advanced trained stylist and has been in the industry over 6 years. She has trained with some of the industries top professionals from Aveda and is certified in numerous cutting edge techniques in both hair cutting and color. Her passion for artistry and creativity allows her to express her individuality into her work. It’s about showing you something you haven’t seen or heard of before and giving you something you always thought was impossible to achieve.
Brenda studied at Toni and Guy in Santa Monica, California. She has always stayed local, earning her experience in East L.A. and Echo Park. Brenda has taken online courses for Pravana and has extensive knowledge with the Redken brand. Since the age of 13, Brenda has been experimenting with her own hair, adding all kinds of colors and hair styles, even without the approval of her parents, leading to her desire for a career with hair. She enjoys the challenges her clients bring her, from experimenting with a range of natural tones to edgy funky colors. Her specialty is working with thick hair along with her signature beach waves. One of Brenda’s goals is to travel, share her education as a stylist but also learn the trades of life from all kinds of people.
Morgan comes from a theatrical background, specializing in styling wigs and hair for time period pieces. With licenses in both Washington and California, she has been trained in reputable salons from Seattle to Beverley Hills. After working years in a barbershop she has mastered men's haircuts along with modern, spunky hair coloring. She displays her passion for people, art, and expression by making hair her canvas.
An LA native who has worked in the area for a decade — Trained by Vidal Sassoon cut experts as well as Wella and Aveda creative colorists — has expanded different principles to match clients needs. Being an artist and studying animation on off days makes her understanding on shapes and colors a step above the rest. Every person has a different face shape and different hair texture. She is known for her great understanding of pixie and precision graduation cuts and men’s short cuts. Marissa believes highly on incorporating your style to your lifestyle. Weather your a natural blonde or a pop color client she will be able to guide you and teach you how to maintain your mane. Did I mention she also does waxing and threading?
Graduated from Marinello, I started my career in Studio City in a Beverly Hills style assistant program. After that, I personally trained under “The Curl Doctor”, where I learned specialized techniques for working with curly and natural hair. Since then I’ve worked exclusively to provide a service where everyone of every texture can love their hair!
Thea is a Southern California native studying at Paul Mitchell The School in San Diego. Upon moving to Los Angeles, she worked and trained both in Beverly Hills and West Hollywood. Thea specializes in women’s haircuts, color, and editorial looks. She believes in the importance of being a well rounded hairstylist; and therefore is always learning new techniques. She has trained under many of the industry’s most talented stylists. Training in cutting at the Vidal Sassoon academy in Santa Monica and in color under Goldwell and Wella colorists. Thea also believes in tailoring each look to custom fit a person's individual needs. And, finds that her best work is inspired by her client's personal style.
Erika’s career began in Atlanta, GA in 2004. She quickly built up a clientele and worked under some of the best stylists in the city. She’s been educated at Bumble and Bumble in NYC and the Goldwell Academy in Santa Monica. Moving a lot around the southeast, Erika lived on an island for five years and mastered the art of beach hair. She specializes in dimensional blondes, curly hair, and clean precision haircuts. She loves doing hair extensions wether bonded or tape ins and enjoys enhancing someone’s individual style. After moving to LA in 2015, she perfected her craft and took a break to learn the administrative side of the salon industry. Missing her ability to let her artistic side shine she came back to doing hair. Erika continues to create youthful sophisticated looks that are trend setting and allows the clients to feel amazing when they walk out the door. When she’s not doing hair she’s enjoying time with her 8-month old daughter.
Ashleigh, a native of Southern California, received her cosmetology license in 2003. After several years in the industry her focus then shifted to salon administration, earning her the position of Assistant to the Director of Carlton Academy. During this period she also earned a certificate in Business Emersion from the Bumble & Bumble Academy NYC. From there she developed her administrative skills in a popular high volume Los Angeles salon after which accepting her current position as our Salon Manager. With her cultivated style and industry know-how Ashleigh brings an ardent mix of ability and professionalism that Rock Paper Salon clients have come to expect.
